Keisha Orphey

Author / Screenwriter / Playwright / Producer / Director

Keisha Orphey is a native of Lafayette, Louisiana, and an award-winning screenwriter, playwright, and producer. She gained early recognition in the Pacific Northwest Screenwriting Competition, winning Best Dramatic Screenplay for Ella—a tribute to jazz legend Ella Jane Fitzgerald. In 2008, she completed Trouble Man, a compelling biopic on R&B icon Marvin Gaye.

In 2012, Keisha took to the stage, producing original plays across Louisiana. Her debut play, A Christmas to Remember, enjoyed nine performances, followed by the episodic comedy series The Crandles, which included Charles Wins the Lottery (April 2013), Pearl Gets A J-O-B (August 2013), and The Crandles’ Family Reunion, featuring “The Velvet Voice of Soul” Vick Allen (December 2013).

Keisha Orphey’s writing journey continues beyond The Guardian. While release dates for future titles have not been announced, additional installments in The Guardian series—and new, emotionally charged projects are already in development.

Each book she writes is a tribute to her late mother, Pearl Marie Savoy Miniex, whose strength and unwavering love continue to inspire her storytelling.

Visitors are encouraged to check back for updates as more stories unfold—crafted with heart, purpose, and the enduring memory of a mother’s light.

Some goodbyes are never spoken, they come as a cardinal's visit ....

After my mother took her final breath, cardinals started to visit me.  Not once, not twice, but often.

Always quiet.  Always watching.  Always red.

I knew she was still with me -- just higher now.

Watching from the trees, whispering through the leaves.

Not gone, just transformed.

Every book I write is for her.

Every July 18th release is a vow I renew.

And every cardinal I see is her way of saying:

"I'm proud of you, babygirl."
